ARP Engine Build Episodes

This season, we have two ARP Engine Builds! Kevin’s building up a 5.2L Coyote block, while Willie’s building up a 5.7L Hemi block. In alternating episodes, the guys give tips and tricks on their respective builds, each on a quest for high horsepower and maximum torque!

2019 ARP Engine Build Introduction

Kevin introduces his Coyote block and Willie introduces his Hemi block for this season's sponsored ARP Engine Build. They discuss their choices for blocks, addons, the final vehicle application, and proposed power they hope to see from their completed engines.

Hemi Build Part 1

Willie further introduces his Hemi engine while discussing the proper use of assembly lube on his ARP Main Studs. He then goes in depth about the proper sizing, filing, gapping and fitting of rings for an engine build.

Coyote Build Part 1

Kevin discusses flat plane versus cross plane cranks, and why he chose this crank for his engine build. He explains the PTWA (Plasma Transferred Wire Arc) block’s coating technology and gets his build underway with a crank install utilizing ARP Main Studs.

Hemi Build Part 2

Willie reiterates the importance of properly indexing and gapping your rings, and shows a quick trick to put a ring on a piston. He discusses “I” versus “H” beam connecting rods and why replacing the pistons for a supercharged application is wise, then finishes up by installing rods and pistons on the Hemi.

Coyote Build Part 2

After getting his stroker cross-plane crank all set in with ARP studs, Kevin introduces some of his planned Ford Performance upgrades. He shows how he locked down and aligned the rear main, and shows off his new piston and rods.

Hemi Build Part 3

Willie reiterates the importance of properly indexing and gapping your rings, and shows a quick trick to put a ring on a piston. He discusses “I” versus “H” beam connecting rods and why replacing the pistons for a supercharged application is wise, then finishes up by installing rods and pistons on the Hemi.

Coyote Build Part 3

Willie reiterates the importance of properly indexing and gapping your rings, and shows a quick trick to put a ring on a piston. He discusses “I” versus “H” beam connecting rods and why replacing the pistons for a supercharged application is wise, then finishes up by installing rods and pistons on the Hemi.

Hemi Build Part 4

Willie gets back to work and discusses what Arrington Performance has done on his 392 Cubic Inch 5.7 L Hemi, from raising the cam shaft and shortening the push rods, to C&C head porting, and changing out the lifters and push rods. He wraps up with installation of new heads.

Coyote Build Part 4

Kevin shows a trick with the oil pump and how he updated the gerotor set so he can use his stock pick up and stock windage tray from his Gen 1 Mustang. He then mocks up the bottom end and fits the new oil pan on the engine before installing a new Cam drive.

Hemi Build Part 5

The mock up continues with the installation of an oil pan and spark plugs on Willie’s 392 Cubic Inch Hemi. He then gets hyped up as he introduces the Magnuson Super Charger kit that is going to take this Hemi to a whole ‘nother level! Next step, engine dyno!

Coyote Build Part 5

Kevin recaps the journey of building up his hybrid Coyote engine. The excitement gets ramped up as he completes his engine mock up by installing his 2650 2018+ Super Charger Kit from Ford Performance! Next step, engine dyno!

1812 Hemi Build Part 6 – Engine Dyno

It’s Dyno time for Willie’s ARP Hemi Engine Build and the guys fly to Detroit to visit Arrington Performance to meet up with the owner Mike Copeland. They’ll take a tour of Arrington’s facilities and see what was done for the Hemi while there. Then it’s go time as we see what kind of torque and horsepower the Hemi will make!

1813 Coyote Build Part 6 – Engine Dyno

The guys are back in Detroit once again and this time it’s to finalize Kevin’s ARP Coyote Engine Build.
